The main uses of your information include:
Customer Support and Marketing - to respond to enquiries and to bring you news, offers and events.
We use your personal data for customer care and for personalised communication of our product and service information, with your consent where necessary. For these purposes we may transmit this data to authorised Dealers.
In order to ensure that you receive relevant and personalised communications, we will use data we hold about you to create an individual customer profile. This may include but is not limited to data you have provided to us or which is generated by your use of our products, for example Contact Details, Interests, Product & Service Usage, Sales and Services Information, Device and Service Usage, Photographs and Video Recordings, Vehicle Configuration Details and Vehicle / Device Location Information. We may also use Photographs and Video Recordings captured during events for our own promotional purposes.
Vehicle Sales & Services – to process your sale, configure and service your vehicle.
We will obtain Contact Details, Vehicle Configuration Details, Vehicle Technical Information and Sales and Services Information when you purchase, service or repair a vehicle from us or from our authorised Dealer network. In certain circumstances we may also require Identity Verification Information. As part of the sale or service we will use this information to provide the services you request and notify you of issues in relation to your vehicle. This information may be accessed by BMW AG to troubleshoot technical or other issues relating to the delivery of these services.

Other Products and Services – to process your applications, orders and requests and event attendance.
We will obtain Contact Details and depending on the product, services or event we may also collect data regarding Identity Verification, Interests, Product & Service Usage, Sales and Services Information, Device and Service Usage, Vehicle Configuration Details, Vehicle/Device Location Information, Travel and Hospitality Information and Photographs and Video Recordings. Data Analysis – Inspecting raw data to identify trends and extract insights to support decision making and improve our products and services.
We use any of the information that we receive through the provision of our services plus technologies such as AI/Machine Learning to train predictive models to support business activities such as the development of our products and services and marketing. This involves analysing data collected, such as Contact Information, Interests, Product and Service Usage, Sales and Services Information, Vehicle Technical Information and more, to identify patterns and make predictions about our products, services, and clients such as customer engagement and purchasing behaviour. We use this information with your consent where required, to improve our services, personalise user experiences, and make more informed business decisions.
Provision of Digital Services, such as Rolls-Royce Connected, Whispers and websites
We and BMW AG receive information from these digital services, such as:
Contact Details, Vehicle Location Information as well as Device and Service Usage information which are used in accordance with the service descriptions for each element of the services set out in the associated terms and conditions and privacy policy.
Legal requests for your information – to comply with our legal obligations, including requests from law enforcement, regulators, and the court service.
We may be legally required to provide your information to law enforcement agencies, regulators, courts and third-party litigants in connection with proceedings or investigations anywhere in the world. Where permitted, we will direct any such request to you or notify you before responding unless to do so would prejudice the prevention or detection of a crime.
Within the EU certain On-Board Fuel Consumption Measurement “OBFCM” data, such as fuel consumption and kilometres driven may be collected from your vehicle during workshop visits and transmitted directly to the EU Commission via our parent company (BMW AG). You can refuse the collection and transmission of such data for this purpose via your local RRMC authorised dealership, service centre or workshop.
Compliance and Risk Management – where we are either legally obliged to conduct monitoring activities or have a legitimate interest as part of our compliance and risk management procedures. We may process your data such as, Identity Verification Information, Driving Eligibility Information, Financial Crime Prevention Information, Brand Protection information and Sales and Services Information to identify, for example:
- politically exposed persons,
- driving eligibility in order to comply with our insurance obligations (if you drive a vehicle owned by us)
- sanctioned parties
- unauthorised vehicle resellers
- brand risks
Recruitment – to process your job applications and career related enquiries. We and BMW AG will obtain Job Application Information and any other additional details you may provide to support your application or enquiry. Security Management – protecting people and our brand
We will obtain information including Contact Information, CCTV Images, Travel and Hospitality Information to ensure the provision of safe and secure environments for staff and visitors. We further use such images to protect buildings and assets from damage, disruption, vandalism and other crime, to assist in the effective resolution of disputes which occur on our premises or during our events, to assist in the defence of any civil litigation and to support law enforcement bodies in the prevention, detection and prosecution of crime.
Legal Grounds for Processing your Personal Information
Our use of personal data is permitted under UK data protection law on the basis of the following principal legal grounds:
- Where necessary to enter into or perform a contract with you
- Where needed to comply with our legal obligations
- Where necessary in order to protect your or someone else’s, vital interests (in life threatening situations such as following an accident)
- Where we use it to achieve a legitimate interest and our reasons for using it outweigh any prejudice to your data protection rights (our legitimate interests include promoting our business and tailoring news and offers to you, research and development of vehicle related products and services, detecting fraud and criminal activities)
- Where you have consented to the use (you will have been presented with a consent notice in relation to any such use and may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us
There may be uses that are permitted on the basis of other grounds; where this is the case we will use reasonable endeavours to identify the ground and communicate it you as soon as possible after becoming aware of the new basis.
