Living roof

Covering more than 32,000 square metres (8 acres) and planted with six different varieties of the sedum plant, the roof of our production facility is the largest living roof in the UK.

Thanks to its organic contours and blanket of vegetation the roof not only camouflages the building but it has also become a haven for skylarks, which have been observed nesting on the living roof since the summer of 2006. A species of bird listed as one of 'high conservation concern' within the UK, the BBC has even filmed the skylarks for a wildlife programme.

Recent scientific statistics have now also shown that the living roof regulates temperatures, leading to an increase in breeding pairs from one to six since 2003.
