
Ian Cameron
Former Chief Designer, Rolls-Royce Motor CarsIan Cameron was the Chief Designer of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars
from 1999 until 2012. For over ten years he oversaw all aspects of
design on all Phantom and Ghost models.
A graduate of the Royal College of Art (Automotive Design), he
also studied Industrial Design in London and Behavioural Science at
Aston University. His first appointment was as a designer for Ogle
Design in Letchworth, from where he moved swiftly on to Pininfarina
in Turin. In 1981 he became Chief Designer of Iveco-Fiat working
both in Turin and Ulm in Germany.
He started work for the BMW Group in 1992 as Exterior Design
Studio Manager at BMW in Munich, where he was Project Leader for
the 3 Series, Z8 and Range-Rover.
In 1999 he was appointed to lead the new Rolls-Royce design team,
resulting in the launch of Phantom in 2003 and all subsequent
Phantom and Ghost family models since. Ian has now retired from his
design role but remains within the BMW Group, dedicating his time
to Rolls-Royce global heritage as Brand Ambassador.
