Andreas Thurner joined the Rolls-Royce design team in 2004.
Responsible for the exterior design of the Rolls-Royce Ghost,
Thurner and the team's designs have been instrumental in the
successful renaissance and establishment of the Rolls-Royce
Inspired by Antoine de Saint-Exupery's quote: "If you want to
build a ship, don't drum up people together to collect wood and
don't assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for
the endless immensity of the sea", Thurner's approach is that real
luxury is dependent on the deep understanding and vision of the
entire project team - achieved by a holistic commitment to quality
from the inner to the outer. This principle of co-operation is
affected by pride and trust - it results in originality, clarity
and a timeless quality.
From 2000 to 2004 Thurner studied Transportation Design at the
world-renowned Hochschule für Gestaltung in Pforzheim, Germany.
After an internship at the BMW Advanced Design Studio in Munich,
Thurner designed his degree work: "Spirit of BMW Luxury in
the Future" in 2003/04 in partnership with BMW.
Thurner started at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars in May 2004, and
immediately began work on the Rolls-Royce Ghost, which he followed
through all phases into production status.
